Role: Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Hometown: Seattle, Washington

Education: Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, Seattle University; Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Sciences, University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio

Research: My research investigates the role of ancestry and other factors that modify the molecular pathology of neurodegenerative diseases. I utilize a wide array of strategies including molecular barcoding and transcriptomic techniques, neuropathology in human postmortem brain, and genetic experiments in Drosophila melanogaster (fruit flies). The goal of my research is to personalize the diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative disorders, including CTE, Alzheimer’s disease, and related dementias. My work is supported by a postdoctoral fellowship from the Texas Alzheimer’s Research and Care Consortium, and by the UT Health San Antonio Institutional Research and Academic Career Development Award (IRACDA).

Interests: In my spare time I enjoy crocheting, baking, gardening, and being outdoors.
