Role: Predoctoral Graduate Research Assistant

Hometown: Macon, Georgia

Education: Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience (Minor: Music), Agnes Scott College

Research: My dissertation project seeks to investigate how the accrual of unrepaired DNA damage may perpetuate tau pathology and neurodegeneration. Utilizing postmortem human tissue and Drosophila models of neurodegeneration, I examine the co-occurrence of DNA damage and pathological forms of tau in astrocytes. Additionally, I assess how exposure to various DNA-damaging agents in Drosophila may influence tau pathology and cell loss, providing insight into underexplored mechanisms linking DNA damage and neurodegeneration.

Interests: My interests include traveling, eating, pop culture and music history.
