Teniade Adetona, B.Sc.

Role: Predoctoral Graduate Research Assistant

Hometown: San Antonio, Texas

Education: Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience, Baylor University

Research: Microglia, the brain’s primary immune cells, help maintain brain health and respond to injury, including traumatic brain injury (TBI). Their function and phenotype shift depending on the disease context, influencing whether damage is resolved or leads to long-term problems. Since TBI increases the risk of neurodegeneration, my research explores how microglial signaling, particularly through P2RY12, shapes this process and whether targeting microglia could help prevent lasting brain damage.

Interests: In my free time, I enjoy playing video games, building Legos, or getting tangled up in a crochet project.
